MAC’s Rich, Dark, Delicious is an creamy dark chocolate brown with an opaque formula. I wanted to pair it with MAC’s Demi-Blanc, a sheer frosted champagne-based duochrome with purple reflects, to see how the colors would play off one another. The dark brown base really brings out the purple reflects in Demi-Blanc in sunlight (and flash photography, obviously). With indoor lighting the brown base is much more obvious, and there’s even a bit of the champagne shimmer visible.
The result is a shimmery eggplant purple which I think is beautiful!
Base: Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Top & Base Coat

I’m a nerd, so I love doing themed nail art. I can’t find my camera cord at the moment, but I will post higher quality pictures as soon as I do! I also did my toes and am considering posting those here The bottom two photos are my left and my right big toes respectively. I cropped them so you could only see the nail art, so hopefully that doesn’t skeeve anyone out too badly! (I know it’s a little bit of a faux pas to post pedicure pictures, but I do nail art on my toes, too!) Here goes…

I did this manicure for my birthday dinner. I love a musky deep blue with just a hint of green, and Blue India is the total embodiment of that. I love this color, just like I loved the rest of the Liberty of London collection.

My favorite nail polish ever. I absolutely must get a back-up bottle, because it’s already given 3 manicures AND I painted the ends of all my makeup brushes with it. Love, love, love this color.

I gave myself a little preemptive manicure this evening and I thought I’d share the swatches of MAC’s new nail lacquers from the Spring Colour Forecast collection. I like both colors well enough, though I think Galore Pink is my favorite. It is a true blue pink lacquer in a cream formula. It’s a bit on the sheer side, which can actually be very pretty if you don’t mind seeing nail beneath the color, and pictured below are my results after three generous coats of Galore Pink.
Malibu Peach is described on the MAC website as a bright creamy tangerine, and it is that to a point, but I think the really beautiful thing about the color is the soft peach it retains even while being relatively bright. I think this aspect is what keeps it from being neon. It’s nice, though I would have loved to see MAC do some neon color polishes. Anyway, Malibu Peach applies more opaquely than Galore Pink despite the fact that they’re both creams. This inconsistency is pretty typical of MAC nail lacquers. The swatches below show my results after two generous coats of Malibu Peach.
Please excuse the wonky nail on the middle finger with Malibu Peach. Stupid gas pumps…grr. Also, I dislike photographing my right hand due to my pen-holding bump.. but I”m keeping it real! So no shame.
